  • Demonstrates knowledge of Medical Office Support to include:
    • Practice Mail Distribution
    • Standards for managing incoming and Outgoing telephone calls
    • Communication with patients and families via telephone and My Chart/Patient Portal and Face to Face
    • Patient appointment Scheduling Process
    • Ordering of supplies and inventory maintenance
    • Performs chart extraction
    • Referral Process per practice protocol
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Clinical Support within the Practice setting
    • Performs temperature logs for refrigerators
    • Monitors and discards expired medications
    • Cleans exam rooms after each patient and restocks rooms with necessary supplies
    • Prepares instruments for reprocessing where applicable
    • Performs quality control functions on lab equipment and maintains manuals according to standards
  • Completes MMP or SMHC Competency Based Orientation (CBO) tool
    • Accurately performs and documents vital signs measurements to include temp, pulse, respiratory rate, manual B/P, Height and Weight
    • Accompanies the patients to exam room and prepares patient for examination by completing established rooming protocol
    • Adheres to standard precautions & infection control policies
    • Performs medication reconciliation per practice protocol
    • Accurately performs office based procedures i.e. Snellen V.A, spirometry, Pulse oximetry, 12 lead EKG, etc
    • Assists with office procedures following appropriate procedures for preparation, wound care, dressing applications
    • Demonstrates safe and accurate medication administration following 7 rights of med administration and safe injection practices
    • Performs laboratory procedures (specimen collection, handling, processing, documentation & reporting)
    • Performs point of care testing i.e. strep screen, urinalysis, urine pregnancy, Hgb A1c, etc.
    • Performs medication refills per established refill protocol
    • Prepares for routine visit types specific to the patient appointment (i.e. follow up, adult, workers comp)
    • Provides Patient education as directed by provider or per protocol
