    • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical problems with plant and machine systems
    • Dismantles devices to gain access to remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
    • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
    • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, callipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
    • Installs and diagnoses new machinery and equipment
    • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices using hand tools
    • Maintains, repairs, and improves plant machinery mechanical systems
    • Participates in project planning
    • Repairs electrical equipment
    • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipments, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment
    • Repairs or replaces defective parts, using hand tools and power tools
    • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
    • Starts devices to test their performance
    • Verifies mechanical and electro mechanical safety of plant and machine systems
    • Works in teams
    • Maintains appropriate records
    • Makes replacement parts as needed
    • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
    • Participates in the “Ideas for Success” Program
    • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines
