Define by analysis and experimentation the optimum setup of new and existing jobs including: speeds and feeds, tool geometry ergonomics and workcell layout, optimimal toolpath,coolant flow and direction,part packaging , errorproofing, tool life managemen
Produce detailed documentation of processes. Verify that documented processes are statistically capable
Use micrometers and other types of gaging
Initiate reviews of existing processes and search for and implement continuing improvements
Secondary: Train various machining personnel on basic principles of machining, equipment setup, troubleshooting, use of setup sheets, and quality systems procedures
Assist Tooling Engineer in making design decisions on new jobs, including machine selection, part orientation, fixturing points, clamping strategy, tools required to achieve finishes and tolerances, etc.
"B" Classification - Load/unload parts from machine as instructed by supervisor
"B" Classification - Use of standard gages, including the following: dial calipers, depth gages, plug gages and special gages after instruction has been provided
"B" Classification - Possesses a working knowledge of quality requirements that pertain to the parts being machined and the operations being performed
"B" Classification - Changes cutting tools, drills, taps, end mills, etc., with minimal assistance from set up personnel
"B" Classification - Able to perform machine adjustments with set up or supervisors’ instructions
"B" Classification - Able to recognize and report quality problems to supervisor
"B" Classification - Capable of sharpening certain cutting tools with set up persons assistance
"A" Classification - Able to perform all functions of class "B" operator
"A" Classification - Capable of reading and interpreting part prints without assistance
"A" Classification - Capable of training new operators as required
"A" Classification - Capable of setting up any job on machines that he/she has had prior training or operated in the past
"A" Classification - Be thoroughly familiar with ISO 9002 machining documents and procedures as required
"A" Classification - Able to perform supervisory functions with assistance from management
"A" Classification - Adjust all cutting tools to comply with part print specification
"A" Classification - Possesses a working knowledge of all CNC controls located in secondary department
Machining Set Up Operator - Able to perform all functions of class "B" and class "A" operator in addition to:
Machining Set Up Operator - Able to train new operators
Machining Set Up Operator - Responsible for maintaining fixtures and tools safe and operational
Machining Set Up Operator - Must be willing to attend classes or training seminars pertaining to this position
Machining Set Up Operator - Monitors the cutting tool inventories of the machining department and provides detailed information to purchasing when reordering
Machining Set Up Operator - Sharpens cutting tools as required
Machining Set Up Operator - Responsible for keeping fixture and tool storage clean and orderly
